Rebotics CEO Heriberto Reynoso works with area students at his robotics warehouse. The aspiring engineer students to a first hand look computer programing and robotic manufacturing.
Four students took a ride to a small business robot-manufacturing center in Mercedes. They were able to see first hand how computer engineer Heriberto Reynoso works out of his warehouse by job shadowing how he builds and creates robots that assemble quickly for educational purposes.
The visit was part of a Gear Up Region One career interest three day summer camp. The students were from Lasara, La Feria, Santa Maria and Santa Rosa who have an interest in computer science and engineering. The camp was geared to give students first hand experience about careers in STEM.
Forty students from the four districts took part in the event. This visit to Reybotics was day two of three day camp that paired students with a mentor to job shadow a specialist in the job field of interest.
The idea of the program is to help students create the right path for college and prepare for a career and major that they love. Students went to the Hospital, Crime lab at Weslaco Police Department, rehabilitation labs to see professionals at work.
The students were tasked to create a presentation of their job shadow experience with their group members to compile and present to parents, principals and superintendents on day three of the Gear Up camp.
